Minutes for WSC Board Meeting

September 6, 2023, 7:30 pm

  1. Call to Order: Nikki makes a motion to start the meeting at 7:38pm, Shamus seconds, ALL IN FAVOR
    1. Attendance: Joe and Julie Bradley, Skylar Rigsby, Gabe Ferrell, Shamus Moore, Chase Hunsicker, Amanda Currier, Cole Huber, Jonathan Rainey, Ray and Kim Long and Chris and Nikki Schmitz
    2. Guest:Tommy Willis and Ryan Bradley
    3. Previous Minutes Skylar makes a motion to approve previous minutes, Chris seconds, ALL IN FAVOR
  2. Introduction of HS Coaches
    1. Tommy Willis
      1. Locker room improvements
        1. Expand
        2. 38 kids in boys’ offseason and ~30 girls
      2. Expectations of WSC
        1. Communicate with Tommy when using field 1
        2. No problem using field 1 for matches
      3. Field Maintenance
        1. Field 1 is becoming wavy. Eric is aware and thinks it is due to different dirt.
        2. Field 2- still good to pull the old goals out and use the portable goals
        3. Poles behind fields 1 and 2 and hang a net between them to prevent golf balls and soccer balls from crossing
  3. Review

      1. OSA- $990 for spring tournament

        1. Shamus makes a motion to approve paying 66 Ink $2,216, Nikki seconds, ALL IN FAVOR
      3. Painting fields- Joe, Drake and Kevin
        1. Nikki makes a motion to pay Joe, Drake and Kevin for painting fields, Ray seconds, ALL IN FAVOR
  4. TOPSoccer
    1. Schedule
      1. 9/29- kickoff, 10/20, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17
  1. Website/Communication
    1. Download app that shows sponsorships and what level of sponsor they are
    2. Referee- shows who will be referring the games and whether they are certified or not- we can all update
    3. Update field status- we can all update
  2. Fundraiser and capital improvement projects
    1. Donations
      1. New donations and a link on the website where they can sponsor from there
    2. New banners
      1. Ordering for new sponsors and replacing old banners that are worn
  3. Referee
    1. Rules update
    2. Festival Weekends
    3. Referee Course

  4. Coaching Education
    1. Class- Still looking into this
      1. 9v9 and 11v11 will be announced soon
        1. Probably around December in OKC
      2. Possibly have Adam Kenes out to do a course
    2. MBP- Lunch and Learn

    3. Goal Keeper’s Alliance
      1. $99/year
        1. They want to get it started and will be speaking at one of our Sunday coaching sessions
        2. Discussing colleges, recruiting, etc.
  5. Recreational
    1. Future Festival dates
      1. Sept. 16 (in-house), 30 (Weatherford), Oct 21 (Elk City), 28 (Clinton)
      2. Build Schedule
        1. All teams submitted by Friday and then schedule will go out on the Monday
    2. Concession
      1. Gabe will need a lot of help with concession on Sept. 16
        1. Will need others to move ice chests
        2. Keep it simple
        3. Gabe and Jen want replaced from running concession
    3. Storage building
      1. Will check about getting one
    4. Parent/Coach request
      1. Tabling lottery motion and vote until Semi-Annual Board Meeting
      2. Put the disclaimer about the lottery on website and registration
    5. Recreational opponents
      1. To get the games they need, play some friendlies with U12 girls and maybe competitive and then the club will pay for them to go to a tournament to get their games in.
        1. Chris makes a motion to pay for one tournament (up to $600) for any fall 2023 recreational team that does not have opponents within our Western Oklahoma league to play against, Nikki seconds, ALL IN FAVOR
  6. U4/U6 Group
    1. Group play Monday nights at 6:00
      1. Group session at 6:00 and games at 6:30
  7. Futsal Winter 1 &2
    1. Registration
      1. Registration is open
    2. Complaints to address
      1. Age groups- try to make age groups even with 4-5 teams per group
      2. Only pick up players if you are short players and they are registered
    3. Referee Education
      1. Set up a time before season to go over rules
  8. Competitive
    1. Update
      1. Ray shared a proposed new logo for the competitive side
        1. Ray makes a motion to adopt the new logo for the following year for competitive only, Chris seconds, ALL IN FAVOR
    2. Schedules
      1. Reach out to Shamus if you need help with schedules
    3. 3 Requirements
      1. Some competitive coaches and most recreational coaches are finished
    4. Uniforms
      1. Need to get uniforms back from those that have had to change uniform size
    5. Games
      1. Blitz may want to play 2 games in Weatherford with 05 boys
  9. Academy
    1. Update
      1. Worried about retaining kids long term due to different skill levels on teams
      2. Distractions- some of the kids are distracting others during practice
        1. Suggestions- keep the kid as a neutral player or have an assistant step in and help
      3. Going well so far
    2. Uniforms
      1. Refund Jonathan Berrong for Academy jersey
    3. Games this weekend
      1. Erin has 2 games- field C
      2. Chase has 2 games- field 3
  10. Goalkeeper Training
    1. Next 3 Mondays at 6:45 training ran by Callum
      1. 45 minute-1 hour session
      2. $10 a session
  11. Next Meeting- Oct. 2, 2023
